ORIGINAL STORY

Friends and family of a missing Cobb County man remain on edge as it’s been a week since anyone has seen or heard from Stephen Stanfill.

Stanfill was last seen around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16 on Dallas Highway in Powder Springs, his wife Nancy said in her Facebook post.

At the time of his disappearance, Stanfill was wearing khaki pants and a red plaid long-sleeved shirt. He was driving a gray 2009 Kia Optima LX.

Cobb County police spokeswoman Sydney Melton said Stanfill visited a police precinct Oct. 16 to say that he “was okay and did not want to be located at this time.” The next day, however, Melton said Stanfill’s wife filed another missing person’s report.

“Because Mr. Stanfill has made contact with police and there is no suspicion of foul play, he is not being actively looked for at this time,” she said.
