Totaling $636,345, various donations and grants were accepted by the Cobb County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 27.

They include:

  • $620,224 from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for Cobb District Attorney Vic Reynolds to hire an assistant district attorney and a criminal investigator - both full time and each for three years with no county funding - to investigate and prosecute sexual assaults that have occurred in Cobb.
  • $7,000 by Colonial Pipeline Company to send two Cobb firefighters - with full funding - to the five-day Williams Fire "Xtreme Industrial Fire and Hazard Training Course" during June in College Station, Texas. With the large Colonial Pipeline petroleum storage facility in Cobb, this course will offer training in the areas of fire suppression, hazard control and advanced flammable liquid firefighting technology.
  • $4,346 by the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia Internship Program - with full funding - for two summer interns of about $2,173 each.
  • $4,000 by the Cobb County Family Law Workshop to the Cobb Justice Foundation, a volunteer organization that is a part of Cobb Legal Aid which provides assistance to individuals in domestic relation cases.
  • $775 from the Master Gardener Volunteers of Cobb County, Inc. for the Educational Rain Garden of the Cobb Watershed Stewardship Program for plant replacements, mulch and educational materials.
