Cobb County police remained on the lookout for an injured armed robbery suspect Sunday afternoon, but the active search was called off.

The suspect fled from authorities earlier in the day, but a second suspect was apprehended.

Officers were on the scene of an armed robbery at a Texaco on Powers Ferry Road when they spotted the suspects, Cobb police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said. One suspect fled on foot, while the other left in a vehicle.

The suspect on foot was captured, but the one in the vehicle got away, Bowman said.

Shots were fired and the at-large suspect was injured, but “why and how is not known,” Bowman told The Atlanta-Journal Constitution.

Police later recovered the vehicle abandoned on I-75 near Northside Parkway, Channel 2 Action News reported.

The suspect in custody has been charged with obstruction, Bowman said, and the investigation is continuing.

Authorities do not yet know if the Texaco robbery, which took place just after 4 a.m., is related to another armed robbery at 4:45 a.m. at a Shell on Windy Hill Road.
