When she's older, little Fiona LeGreve Young will get to hear quite the story of the day she was born. One of Cobb County's newest residents entered the world around 6 a.m. Wednesday just outside Fire Station 19.

Her parents, Elizabeth and Brett Young, had planned to head to Northside Hospital around 5:45 a.m. because mom was having contractions. The couple's third girl wasn't due for three more weeks.

But as soon as the couple's two young daughters were loaded in the car, it became apparent baby No. 3 wasn't going to wait long.

“As my wife was coming into the car, her water broke," Brett Young told the AJC Wednesday afternoon from the hospital. “The water’s gone, the baby’s coming.”

The quick-thinking dad called 911 and told operators he was driving to the closest fire station on Powers Ferry Road, about 5 minutes from the family's east Cobb home.  The operator then called the fire station to alert the crew.

"I'm going to have this baby," Elizabeth Young said, according to her husband.

When the family arrived at the station, Elizabeth Young stepped out of the car and delivered Fiona almost instantly.

"She fell right into my hands," Brett Young said.

From there, the captain and crew at the fire station took over, quickly getting both baby and mother out of the cold weather and inside, until an ambulance arrived to transport the two to Northside.

Weighing in at 4 pounds, 12 ounces and measuring 18 inches, Fiona was fine hours after her birth, despite her rushed arrival, her parents said.

"This time was the easiest labor," Elizabeth Young said.

The family plans to visit the firefighters that assisted with Fiona's birth soon.
