Cobb County drivers are advised to avoid the Marietta Square Saturday morning during the annual Sleighbells on the Square run, Marietta police said in a Friday traffic alert.

The event starts at 7 a.m. and will begin and end in the square, with a 5K route that runs north along Cherokee Street to Freyer Drive, then east to Allgood Road, north to Chicopoee Drive and then back around down south on Church Street to the square.

The final part of the event, the awards, starts at 9:50 a.m.

Sleighbells on the Square, which raises money for the Children's Emergency Fund, also includes a 1K and children's run.

It is a qualifying race for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race.
