Clayton County approves requests to accept grants

The Clayton County board of commissioners recently voted in favor of a request by the Clayton County district attorney’s office request to accept grant funds for the Victim Witness Assistance Program, which guides victims of crime through the court process.

The request asks the board to enter into a grant award agreement with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Council of Georgia and accept grant funds. The grant award is $266,251 with a matching contribution of $66,563 and a $50,075 cash match required from the county. The grant period is from October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2017.

A request by the Clayton County fire department to accept the fiscal year 2016 Emergency Management Performance Grant was also approved.

The grant award agreement is with Georgia Emergency Management-Homeland Security. The award is $77,827, with matching funds of $77,827 from the county, for the purpose of ensuring that Clayton County is fully prepared to help its citizens in times of emergency. The grant period is from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.
