City of Atlanta temporarily closes downtown streets

Feb 20, 2018There is a temporary restriction of access of Mitchell Street between Washington Street and Capitol Avenue. The city of Atlanta recognizes the significant pedestrian activity within the identified block during the legislative session and believes this temporary measure will create a safer environment for pedestrians by eliminating unnecessary vehicular traffic.
The restriction will remain until 6 p.m. Sunday, April 1.
The following detour route will be posted to re-direct vehicular traffic around the Mitchell Street area as follows:
Eastbound Mitchell Street
- Right onto Washington Street
- Left onto Memorial Drive
- Left onto Capitol Avenue
- Southbound Washington Street
- Straight (South) on Washington Street
- Left onto Memorial Drive
- Left onto Capitol Avenue
