Poplar Springs Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate its 141st anniversary with an historical marking of an 1870 gravesite.
The event begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with an anniversary service, followed at 1:30 p.m. and the historical marker memorial service.
The grave contains the remains of a young boy, whose father later donated the land for the church to be built.
The church, which was formed in 1871 by African American families in Ellenwood, is located at 3797 River Road.
