4 children die in Rockdale County fire

Four children died and another child and an adult were injured in house fire late Tuesday in Rockdale County.

Three boys and a girl — ages 8 months, 3 years, 7 years and 9 years — died in a fire overnight at this duplex in Rockdale County.

A house fire late Tuesday in Rockdale County killed four children and injured another child and an adult.

Investigators arrived early Wednesday to begin looking into the overnight blaze that left four young children dead.

Adaria, 9, and three of her brothers were killed in a house fire in Conyers on Tuesday night.

Dashawn, 7, died in the house fire Tuesday night in Conyers.

Three-year-old Armoni was killed in Tuesday night's blaze.

Deon Jr., 7 months old, was born three months premature. He died in Tuesday's fire.

Leslie Slater's daughter was best friends with a child who died.

18-year-old Lamonta Stroud said he had just gotten home from wrestling practice at Rockdale County High School when he “heard my neighbor screaming, so I ran outside.”

Stroud said he tried to rescue the children. He broke out some windows at the back of the house. “You could hear the kids and I was telling them to come to the back, come to the back, but nobody came,” he said.

Her sons tried to help during the fire, Leslie Slater says.

Three boys and a girl, ranging in age from 8 months to a 7-year-old, died in the blaze, Major Mike Waters of Conyers police said early Wednesday.

The children’s mother was seriously injured and transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.

Investigators with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrived at the house on Wednesday morning.

A 6-year-old boy was injured when his mother threw him from a window to escape the flames.

Investigators are seeking the cause of the fire.

Officials look at the burned-out house.

Injuries to the 6-year-old who was thrown out of the window are not believed to be serious.

The injured boy was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

A grandmother who also lived in the home was not injured, Major Mike Waters of Conyers police said.

Three boys and a girl died in the blaze.

The 6-year-old boy who survived was thrown from a second-floor window to escape the fire.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation early Wednesday.
