One boy was killed and another injured after they were run over by an ice cream truck Thursday night in southeast Atlanta, police said.

Warren Lee Roberson, of Decatur, had stopped to sell items from his  2003 Ford Panel truck at 798 Eloise Court S.E. As Roberson began to leave the apartment complex, two children, Jaquavis Hannah, 10, and Bollett Brown, 7, were run over by the truck, police said.

Jaquavis was run over by the rear wheel of the truck, according to police. He was taken to Grady Memorial where he was pronounced dead. Bollett Brown was taken to Eggleston Hospital in stable condition and treated for a broken leg.

The boys were playing on the back of the truck, Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones had said Thursday evening.

Roberson had asked the parents to get the boys off the truck, Jones said. She said when the truck drove away the children fell off.

No charges have been filed, but the incident is still under investigation, police said.

Jaquavis was a fourth-grader at Parkside Elementary School, according to his cousin, Candace Martin. "He was very energetic, a very good child," said Martin. "He was always playing, making people laugh."

She said Jaquavis had planned to play park football this year.
