The Cherokee County School Board has renewed a partnership agreement with retired educators that will ensure a source of volunteer judges, proctors, tutors, mentors, guest readers and other helpers for the schools.

The agreement, with the Georgia Retired Educators Association-Cherokee Retired Educators Association, also has the retirees providing an annual scholarship for a Cherokee County graduate to study education at Reinhardt University, and financial assistance with final certification fees for graduates.

The school board, in turn, will distribute information to retirees about the associations, promote their activities, allow the use of district facilities for six yearly meetings as needed, provide the associations the email addresses of retiring educators every spring, and issue an annual proclamation recognizing Retired Educators Day.

The agreement runs through Oct. 17, 2020 and automatically renews for additional terms, up to five years.
