The Cherokee County School Board has renewed a partnership agreement with Kennesaw State University that has the district continuing to recruit KSU students for its after-school programs and placing them in observation and student teaching positions.

The school district also will offer KSU students opportunities to fulfill community service requirements, waive facility use rental fees, and assign designees and provide leave time to serve on the KSU Bagwell College of Education and Professional Teacher Education Unit advisory boards and other committees.

The university, in turn, will promote teaching and support job openings in the Cherokee County School System, continue joint enrollment programs for Cherokee students, recommend judges for science fairs, speech contests and other events, provide for the reciprocal use of facilities, and advise the school district on technology, curriculum and textbooks, among other initiatives.

The agreement runs through July 18, 2020, and automatically renews for additional terms of up to three years.
