A long-range strategic plan recently adopted by the Cherokee County School Board sets five priority areas, performance objectives for the district, and a "progress report" due every fall for the next five years.

The priority areas of the document, titled the "Blueprint," are Student Achievement: Equity and Access; Organizational and Operational Effectiveness; Family, Partner and Community Engagement; Positive Culture and Climate; and Quality Workforce, according to a district announcement. The plan was developed over six months in meetings with students, families, teachers, support staff, and business and community partners, the district said.

Its vision statement is, “Together, we will prepare the emerging generation to confidently rise up to limitless learning potential and success.” It cites three core beliefs concerning “rigor, relevance and relationships.”

Schools Superintendent Brian V. Hightower said the plan is called the Blueprint “because we see it as just that: a new long-range plan for our continued success. This is a very targeted plan, and we believe we’re going to do great things.”
