As the time change approaches this spring, the City of Alpharetta Fire and Emergency Services wants to remind residents to make another change that could save their lives – changing batteries in smoke alarms.
This is the 23rd year of the Change Your Clock, Change Your Battery campaign. The program urges Americans change their smoke alarm batteries when changing clocks to daylight saving time on March 13.
The most commonly cited cause of non-working smoke alarms are worn or missing batteries. Working smoke alarms nearly cut in half the risk of dying in a home fire.
