Chamblee police are seeking the public’s help finding possible additional victims of a man charged with molesting four youths.
Police said Victor Javier Flores, an illegal immigrant from Honduras, had inappropriate sexual contact with at least four boys.
“On Jan. 5, we received a call from a citizen telling us that a 14-year-old boy stated a man in the neighborhood was molesting and harassing little boys,” Sgt. Ernesto Ford told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Police met with the teen who made the complaint, and learned the boy had been lured inside the home where Flores lives.
“He said this man had touched him on his buttocks and showed him pornography,” Ford said. “And that he had done this with other kids.”
Police interviewed three other youths who accused Flores, 39, of the same behavior.
“He befriended them playing soccer and buying them things,” Ford said. “One kid told us that [Flores] molested him the first time he met him.”
Investigators used the children’s descriptions and the man’s Facebook page to identify him, police said. Flores was arrested on Jan. 5 and charged with four counts of child molestation, three counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes and three counts of forgery.
“He had two fake Social Security cards and a fake permanent resident card in his pocket when he was arrested,” Ford said.
But police think that Flores, who has lived in Chamblee since 2004, may have been involved with more children. “We suspect that he started as soon as he got here,” Ford said.
Ford said police are concerned that undocumented Hispanic families whose children were victims might not report the molestation. “We don’t want them to be afraid of retaliation or of Immigration coming to get them,” he said.
Flores is being held in the DeKalb County jail on $20,000 bond and also is on a U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement hold.
Police are asking that anyone with information on other victims call the Chamblee Police Department at 770-986-5005.
