One person died and two others are in critical condition after a car left the road and hit a pedestrian early Wednesday, DeKalb County police said.

The 21-year-old man who was killed was a passenger in the car, Lt. Lonzy Robertson said. He was identified by police as Taharka Bostick.

About 12:45 a.m., a 1997 Honda Civic left the road and hit a light pole in a parking lot of a coin laundry in the 5400 block of Memorial Drive, police said.

“After striking the pole, the Honda skid across the parking lot of this property and struck a male pedestrian and his parked 2009 Ford Taurus,” Robertson said.

The Honda came to rest in a deep ravine, and DeKalb fire personnel rescued the two people inside.

All people in the crash were taken to a hospital, where Bostick was later pronounced dead, according to police.

The Honda driver (Aaron Lovely, 22) and the pedestrian (Ean Wells, 32) were in critical but stable condition, Robertson said.

The crash is under investigation.
