Canton man, 45, killed in crash
A 45-year-old Canton man was killed Tuesday morning in a collision with a van at the intersection of Kelly Mill Road and Bethelview Road in Forsyth County.
Forsyth County Traffic Specialist Investigator Ron Tomblin said the victim was identified as Christopher Henderson.
Tomblin said a 1998 Ford Van, being driven by Gerardo Perez Abrego, 25, of Loganville, was traveling north on Bethelview Road and entered the turn lane to make a left turn onto Kelly Mill Road. Henderson was traveling south on Kelly Mill Road in his 1999 Chevrolet Blazer. The traffic light at the intersection turned yellow and the van turned into the path of the oncoming Chevrolet Blazer. The vehicles struck head-on at about 7 a.m. Henderson was pronounced dead at the scene, Tomblin said.
The van was traveling with seven passengers, said Tomblin. Two of the passengers were transported to North Fulton Hospital with minor injuries.
Gerardo Abrego, the driver of the van, was arrested at the scene and charged with vehicular homicide in the second degree. He remains in custody at this time.
Tomblin said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision.
