In 2018, small- and medium-sized business entrepreneurs are making the most of the trending health and beauty product phenomenon.

That's according to a new report from Volusion, a major e-commerce platform directed at SMBs, for which analysts ranked the country's most enterprising cities based on volume of merchants and assessed each city's most successful business categories based on average revenue.
They collected data from more than 30,000 United States merchants who use Volusion to run their online shops and adjusted the numbers per capita for the ranking.
“There’s an entrepreneurial boom happening all over the country and a few cities in particular are paving the way for small and medium sized business owners looking to start their next self-owned venture,” the company wrote in the report.

Scottsdale, Arizona earned top honors, followed by Miami; Memphis, Tennessee; Austin, Texas and Atlanta.
According to Volusion, Atlanta’s most successful business categories are apparel, sporting goods and health/beauty.

“We have our finger on the pulse of what's shaping small- and mid-sized businesses nationwide and we've seen a boom in online stores focused on health & beauty, as entrepreneurs understand consumers are adopting healthier habits and looking for beauty and wellness products that are actually good for them,” Kevin Sproles, CEO and founder of Volusion, said in a news release. “Every city in this year's Top Enterprising Cities list is on the health and wellness kick and it's great to see new towns with a surge in entrepreneurship, including this year's top five – Scottsdale, Miami, Memphis, Austin, and Atlanta."

Atlanta is home to some popular beauty shops, including some sustainable companies, such as Little Barn Apothecary in the Westside Provisions District and Krog Street Market's Mama Handmade Bath + Body.
The metro was also recently named one of the country's top cities to start a career and best for new grads.
