Busy election year ahead for Avondale
Two Avondale Estates commissioners, Lindsay Forlines and John Quinn, are up for re-election next Nov. 3, with qualifying fees set this week for $3.
Prior to that, however, is the March 17 special election to complete the unexpired term of Mayor Ed Rieker who resigned in October.
Five candidates have qualified to run, including three who are against annexation. If there’s a tie for winner, a run-off is scheduled for June 16. But the term lasts only until Dec. 31, meaning another mayoral election is required Nov. 3.
