A busy northwest Atlanta road has reopened after being closed during Thursday’s morning commute while crews repaired a utility pole and lines brought down by an overnight wreck.
Channel 2 Action News reported that the driver and passenger in the sport utility vehicle that struck the pole on West Marietta Street near Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard got out and ran away after the crash, which happened before 4 a.m.
One eastbound lane was opened just before 8 a.m., all lanes in both directions reopened about an hour later.
Just east of Thursday's wreck site, West Marietta Street was shut down for several hours on Dec. 14 when a car struck a utility pole, knocking down the pole and leaving live wires draped across a semi truck. The truck driver, who was unhurt, stayed in the cab of his truck until electricity was cut to the power line.
