Approximately 4,000 pounds of marijuana with a street value of $4 million was found in a tractor-trailer traveling in Clayton County on Friday, police said.

The Georgia State Patrol got an anonymous tip about the truck and alerted Clayton County police after tracking it to the area, Officer Chandi Ashmore told the AJC. Officers stopped the truck on Circle 85 near College Park around 11 a.m., Ashmore said.

Three men inside the truck, ages 30, 31 and 51, were taken into custody, Ashmore said. Each was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to traffic, possession with intent to distribute, and possessing more than an ounce of marijuana, she said.

"Through an anonymous tip by a concerned citizen, we were able to seize dangerous drugs and keep them out of our community," Ashmore said.

The names of the suspects were not disclosed.

Investigators believe the trio may have been traveling from Texas or farther west, Ashmore said.
