Burglary suspects arrested outside Buckhead store
Four teenagers were in custody early Wednesday after Atlanta police broke up an apparent planned smash-and-grab burglary at a Buckhead clothing store.
An officer patrolling along Peachtree Road spotted the group outside the Nordstrom Rack at the Buckhead Loop shortly before 2 a.m.
Atlanta police spokesman Carlos Campos said that Officer C. Harding first noticed a black Dodge Ram pickup truck at the bottom of the escalators leading to the store, then noticed the males on the walkway outside the store.
Kevin Bailey, 17, and three juveniles were taken into custody after a short foot chase, Campos said.
"The suspects were apprehended prior to making entry into the Nordstrom Rack business although they had placed rocks by the windows," Campos said.
He said the Dodge pickup had been reported stolen earlier in the evening from near Underground Atlanta.
Atlanta police Capt. Van Hobbs said investigators would be checking security video to determine if the suspects were involved in another attempted smash-and-grab burglary at the store early Tuesday.
