Atlanta police Tuesday were investigating a pair of predawn burglaries in which flat-screen televisions were taken from businesses in a shopping center near Georgia Tech.
The first call came in at 5:19 a.m. from the Skewerz Pizza K restaurant on 10th Street at Hemphill Avenue, in the Tech Plaza shopping center directly across the street from campus.
The restaurant's front door was smashed in and a flat-screen television taken.
Five minutes later, police received an alarm call from the Natural Nails nail salon next door to the pizza restaurant. That businesses' plate glass window was shattered and a television was also taken during that burglary, according to dispatchers.
Police posted a lookout for a white Chevrolet Lumina, last seen headed eastbound on North Avenue.
Skewerz owner Nanda Ragala said Tuesday's break-in was the first time that his restaurant had been burglarized.
Ragala said it would likely cost more to replace his broken glass door than the 40-inch TV was worth.
“It’s stupid,” he said.
