The Sandy Springs City Council unanimously approved a rezoning that will bring a Buddhist meditation center to Peachtree-Dunwoody Road.

The Kadampa Meditation Center is limited to 12 overnight occupants at any one time and attendees will be prohibited from parking in any nearby neighborhoods, a key worry to residents.

The center will have 41 spaces on site and will have up to five events each year that would attract more than the parking could accommodate. Under the city’s approval, the center would be required to find parking at the nearby MARTA train station or other sites and shuttle attendees to the center.

The center, just north of the intersection with Abernathy Road, had previously been a bed and breakfast.
