The most direct driving route between Gainesville and Cumming – Brown’s Bridge Road across Lake Lanier – will be closed the next two weekends as state highway crews replace the driving surface of the bridge.

The Brown’s Bridge (Ga. 369) span will be out of service from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, until 5 a.m. Monday, and the same hours Oct. 28-31, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Detours will be posted at the intersections of Browns Bridge and McEver Road (Ga. 53) on the east side of Lake Lanier near Gainesville, in Hall County; and at Browns Bridge and Keith Bridge Road (Ga. 306) on the west side of the lake near Cumming, in Forsyth County.

“Drivers need to slow down and drive alert while learning the traffic pattern,” GDOT said. “The driving surface on Browns Bridge is in need of repair. … Work should be completed before the new year, weather permitting.”
