The Fayette County Board of Commissioners has approved plans to build a pedestrian bridge instead of a tunnel next to the Pinewood Atlanta movie studio complex. The commissioners voted 4-0-1 (with Randy Ognio absent) recently to support a request by the City of Fayetteville to amend a 2013 annexation agreement in which the county will pay up to $754,934 toward construction of a bridge over Veterans Parkway, rather than the previously suggested tunnel.

Pinewood Atlanta would contribute $60,000 to the project. The bridge would connect the studio with the Pinewood Forrest mixed-use development planned for the opposite side of the parkway.
