A 68-year-old man was killed Friday in a workplace accident in Hall County, the sheriff’s office said.

The man was identified Saturday as Jake Sanders of Flowery Branch, sheriff’s spokesman Stephen Wilbanks said.

Sanders, an employee of Candler Concrete Products Inc. on Candler Road, got caught between a dump truck and a front-end loader just before 8 a.m., Wilbanks said in a statement.

Sanders was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with severe injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, Wilbanks said.

The cause of the accident has not been released.

Candler Concrete Products has not commented.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.

It’s the second accident in metro Atlanta the agency has had to investigate recently. Luis De Leon Jr., 20, of Rex, died at a Midtown construction site Sept. 15 while working on a 12-story Northside Hospital building, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

A piece of construction equipment fell on him.
