A pilot suffered minor injuries after a single-engine plane crashed into a tree line along a Dawson County road Sunday.

Only the pilot was on board, when a Erco 415-C Ercoupe landed on the shoulder of Goodson Road in Dawsonville, Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said.

The pilot’s name has not been released, but a neighbor told Channel 2 Action News he just purchased the plane.

That same neighbor said the pilot walked away with only a bloody nose and a firefighter confirmed the pilot had been checked out and released from a local hospital Sunday afternoon, just hours after the crash.

The plane’s engine failed, a firefighter told Channel 2.

This is the second small aircraft crash in Georgia this week.

A single-engine plane crashed Thursday in Barrow County and both men on board were killed.
