A small plane made an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon in Athens near the University of Georgia after it had engine problems, police said.

A Beechcraft Bonanza BE35 that left Athens-Ben Epps Airport was en route to the Barrow County Airport when it landed about 2:39 p.m., Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Arlene Salac said.

UGA spokesman Bob Taylor confirmed the plane landed near the school’s Livestock Instructional Arena on South Milledge Avenue. No damage to property or injuries were reported.

The FAA is investigating. No other details were released.
