The Brandon Mill/Abernathy Road intersection will open temporarily later this month , to allow utility companies to finish wrok in the area.

The state project was originally expected to be finished by now but suffered setbacks when Georgia Power, AT&T and Comcast did not move their utility lines, allowing the contractor to complete the work.

Contractor CW Matthews will install a signal at the intersection and pave as much of the area as possible, to allow right and left turns from Brandon Mill onto Abernathy.

The utility work is expected to be completed in early 2011, when the roads will be closed again for less than a week. That will allow crews to finish the project for traffic.
