No bond for suspect in Pittsburgh anti-gay beating
Bond was denied for one of three men arrested and charged with brutally beating a gay Atlanta man in February on a video that went viral online.
Christopher Cain, 19, will remain in the Fulton County on aggravated assault, robbery by force, burglary and gang charges for allegedly attacking 20-year-old Brandon White on Feb. 4, in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh community.
“I’m glad,” White told Channel 2 Action news after the hearing. “I was afraid for my life.”
The video showed three men punching and kicking White – and even slamming a car tire on the victim’s head – amid shouts of anti-gay slurs.
Authorities say that Cain, along with Dorian Moragne and Darael Damare Williams, were White’s attackers.
Moragne was granted $40,000 bond; however, because he was on probation during the alleged attack, he is being held in Fulton County jail pending a probation revocation hearing.
Williams surrendered to authorities after fleeing to the Erie, Pa., area. He was returned to Atlanta on March 12, and remains in the Fulton jail on the assault and robbery charges, as well as a 2011 prowling conviction.
A fourth man, Javaris Bradford, 24, was also indicted in connection with the attack, but remains at large.
