Bond denied for suspect who hit, killed officer

Chasity Jones makes first court appearance.

Chasity Nicole Jones appeared before Fulton County Magistrate judge Jessy Lall Thursday morning at the Fulton County jail.

Jones and lawyer Patrick Sullivan appeared before the judge. Jones is charged with felony first-degree vehicular homicide as well as two misdemeanors, driving under the influence and failure to yield to person authorized to direct traffic.

Jones is accused of being drunk when her car slammed into and killed APD Senior Officer Gail Thomas Tuesday night ...

... and will remain in jail for at least the next two weeks after Judge Lall refused to grant bond on the vehicular homicide charge.

Jones was handcuffed as she appeared before the judge.

Lall scheduled a preliminary hearing for Jones for Feb. 9 in Fulton Superior Court, at which time her lawyers can ask a Superior Court judge to set bond.
