Black Collegian Magazine cites Gwinnett schools among top employers

Feb 12, 2010Gwinnett County Public Schools, the largest employer in the county with a workforce of more than 22,000, was named 24th on a list of the nation's top 100 employers by Black Collegian Magazine.
The publication recognized the school system’s recruiting and retaining practices in its January issue.
Of its 11,573 teachers, 2,246, or 19.4 percent, are non-white, according to the latest figures presented to the school board by associate superintendent Frances Davis. The school system has a total enrollment of 160,000.
The magazine's top five employers were: Enterprise Car Rental; Verison Wireless; Peace Corps; Waste Management; and Deloitte Services.
