Authorities are investigating a crash that left a bicyclist dead Friday in Union City, police said.

Rafee Ahed Grant-Mahi was riding on Ga. 138 and Old Jonesboro Road when a driver hit him from behind, police spokesman Christopher Murphy said.

The driver, whose name wasn’t released, was on the scene when officers got there about 6:46 a.m., police said.

It is unclear what caused the driver to hit Grant-Mahi.

No other details were released.
