Barbie Bandits receive their sentences

Both of the so-called 'Barbie Bandits' were in court on Monday to receive their sentence for robbing an Acworth bank last year.

Ashley Nicole Miller was 18 when she and Heather Lyn Johnston, robbed that Bank of America inside an Acworth Kroger. Today, Miller was sentenced to 2 years for the bank theft and drug possession charges with 8 years on probation.

Taking money from a bank was "a bad idea. ... [It was the] worst decision I ever made," Miller said during the trial of co-defendant Michael Darrell Chastang.

Heather Lyn Johnston, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of theft by taking, a felony and one count of possessing less than an ounce of marijuana, a misdemeanor. She was sentenced to 10 years probation.

Miller gets a hug from her mom, Joy Miller in the courtroom. "I realize what I did was irresponsible," Miller told the judge.

Cobb County Superior Court Judge Mary Staley handed out the sentences amid a gaggle of media jamming the courtroom.

"I know I hurt my family. I hurt my church family, and I hurt a lot of people that I love," sobbed Heather Lyn Johnston, 20, before the judge sentenced her.

Bank teller Benny Allen III, who told the girls what to write in the demand note and handed them the money, was the first to stand before Staley. The 23-year-old was on five years' probation for a drug bust in Bartow County. Staley gave Allen five years in jail and five on probation

The two Gwinnett County teens, who became instantly famous after a bank video showed them in stylish sunglasses, smiling and giggling during a bank robbery, were in court today to receive their sentences.

Miller, during her years at Grayson High School. Before the robbery, Miller and Johnston were dancers at Shooter Alley, a Doraville strip club on Buford Highway.

After the robbery, the teens headed to Carter-Barnes Hair Artisans in Buckhead where they appeared on this surveillance camera.

"I'm pleased with the changes in Heather's life," Danny Rager, who as pastor of Woodland Hills Assembly of God Church in Lawrenceville, has known Johnston since she was 14. "She's back to the girl I first met," he said. Then, Johnston, wearing a black suit, spoke:
