Fulton County authorities on Friday identified the baby found dead in a bathtub with two adults but said a cause of death has not yet been determined.
The Fulton Medical Examiner's Office identified the dead child as Jaden Malone, a 9-month-old male. Two adults believed to be the child's parents were taken to the hospital Thursday night.
An autopsy was conducted Friday morning, but the cause of death is pending the return of toxicology and histology reports, which could take two to three weeks, according to the medical examiner.
Authorities told Channel 2 Action News that the baby's grandmother called police after finding the baby and his parents unconscious in the bathtub with a toaster nearby plugged into an extension cord. The incident happened in the 400 block of Fulton Street SW.
Officers responded to the location around 6:40 p.m., Lt. Paul Guerrucci told the AJC.
Two individuals were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and are in stable condition, he said.
"Based on what the grandmother said, they were inside the tub and there is water in the tub and there is a toaster nearby," Guerrucci said.
Police said it is too early to tell if the incident was a murder and attempted suicide.
"It is obviously a possibility with the extension cord and toaster in proximity," Guerrucci said.
