Avondale Estates’ commission and Downtown Development Authority are holding a joint meeting, 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Avondale Estates City Hall, 21 North Avondale Plaza.

Wednesday’s meeting actually has three components. It begins with a public hearing on the tax millage followed by a special called meeting regarding the upcoming SPLOST vote in November.

The third piece is the joint meeting, technically a special called work session. The discussion will focus on possible plans for developing four acres the city owns along U.S. 278, with roughly half that space going to a town green.

The two boards will also confer on funding the DDA, which saw a nearly complete turnover last fall and early winter. A funded board must be preceded by an intergovernmental service agreement allowing for the transfer of money from the city to the DDA and would also include a formal mission statement for the authority.
