Avondale annexes Stratford Green

At least one piece of annexation became official Monday night when Avondale Estates’ commission unanimously approved adding Stratford Green to the city. This northeastern neighborhood of 154 townhomes increases Avondale’s current population of 2,960 by roughly 400. In September, 74 percent of Stratford’s residents (well over the 60 percent minimum) signed a petition asking for annexation. The addition becomes official Jan. 1 when the city begins providing services.
