The fugitive south Georgia banker accused of embezzling $21 million from his bank and of bilking clients of his investment business is also suspected of operating a marijuana grow house on property it is believed he was renting in Florida, authorities there said.
Aubrey Lee Price, who was arrested in southeast Georgia on Tuesday, was allegedly renting property near Ocala, Fla., according to a Marion County, Fla., Sheriff’s Office incident report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Deputies went to the Jacksonville Road property Wednesday after the property owner discovered several marijuana plants growing in a garage, the report states.
Deputies found 225 marijuana plants that were being grown inside the garage and in a mobile home also on the property allegedly being rented by Price, 47. His home address is listed on the report as being in Bradenton, Fla.
Price, who disappeared in 2012, was arrested in Brunswick Tuesday after Glynn County deputies stopped his 2001 Dodge pickup truck on suspicion that its windows were too darkly tinted. He remains in federal custody, with a bond hearing scheduled for Monday in Savannah.
