Atlanta weather | Weekend will be sunny and warmer; rain forecast Monday

After a week that began with a major snow and ice storm and ended with overnight lows in the teens, temperatures this weekend should feel almost balmy.

Mostly sunny skies will prevail Saturday and Sunday, but there's a good chance of rain on Monday's Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said highs should reach the mid-40s Saturday and Sunday. Lows should be in the mid-20s early Saturday and upper 20s early Sunday, Minton said.

There's a 60 percent chance of rain after 9 a.m. on Monday, along with highs in the upper 40s.

The chance of rain is also 60 percent Monday night, when lows will be around 40 degrees.

Tuesday will be cloudy and warmer, with a 40 percent chance of rain and highs in the mid-50s.
