Friday's rain is history, and a sunny, cooler weekend is predicted.

A cold front moved through the metro Atlanta area Friday. Temperatures were expected to dip into the mid-50s overnight.

Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said to expect a cool Saturday morning, then a sunny and warm afternoon with highs in the low 80s.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and warmer, Burns said, with highs in the mid-80s and lows around 60 degrees.

The new work week will begin with a 30 percent chance of rain on Monday and Tuesday. Highs will be in the upper 80s, with lows in the upper 60s.

This weekend's dry forecast will be welcome news for road construction crews involved in several projects around metro Atlanta.

The Ashford Dunwoody Road bridge over I-285 will be shut down from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday as crews complete the changeover to the new "diverging diamond interchange," which will open Monday morning. Detours around the bridge should be clearly marked.

Two southbound lanes of I-285 near Old National Highway will be blocked for construction from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday, while in Clayton County, a lane of I-75 in each direction will be closed Friday night and all day Saturday between U.S. 19/41 and Mt. Zion Boulevard.

In Gwinnett County, the two right lanes of I-85 southbound will be shut down from Indian Trail road to Jimmy Carter Boulevard, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.

Weekend events downtown include the Atlanta Dream game against Chicago at 7 p.m. Saturday at Philips Arena and Sunday's Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw concert, which begins at 4:30 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.
