Forget about the rain. The weekend is around the corner.

"The weekend looks superb with sunshine and 60s," Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns said.

Most areas received about a tenth of an inch of rain Thursday, with isolated areas getting about a quarter to half inch, he said. The airport got .06 inches of rain, which is the official rain total for the day.

Rain moved into metro Atlanta in the latter stages of the evening rush hour Thursday.

Around 6:30 p.m., about 5,000 Georgia Power customers around Moreland Avenue in Atlanta lost service, spokeswoman Lynn Wallace said. As of 8:30 p.m., all but about 670 had power back, she said.

The front had moved through by 8:30 p.m., Burns said.

No severe storms were expected with the system.

Burns is forecasting sunny skies Friday through Sunday, with highs in the 60s and lows in the low 40s.
