Cloudy skies will yield little rain in the Atlanta area Tuesday, forecasters say.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Glenn Burns said Atlanta and its immediate suburbs will receive only a tenth of an inch Tuesday. A cold front moving through the state will saturate the North Georgia mountains, however, where upwards of an inch of rain may fall.

For the year, the Atlanta area is almost 12 inches below average, said Burns Monday afternoon. Rain will begin falling by sunrise in the mountains, and about noon in the Atlanta area.

Wednesday night, the chance for rainfall is about 80 percent.

Afternoon highs will be in the mid-60s Tuesday, dropping to the mid-50s Wednesday through Friday.

Lows will be in the low 50s Tuesday night, low 40s Wednesday night and mid-30s Thursday night.
