Lightning possibly sparked a house fire and struck a cell tower at the 911 Center in Rockdale County as storms rolled through the area late Tuesday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to a one-story ranch with heavy fire coming through the roof on Lou Drive in central Rockdale, Michael Morris, fire department spokesman, told the AJC. No one was injured in the blaze, which started during a lightning storm.

Several lightning strikes were reported in Rockdale, including at the county's 911 Center tower, officials said. Vehicle wrecks also were reported in the county.

More storms were expected to move through the Atlanta area Tuesday evening.

Wednesday's forecast includes a mix of clouds and sun before scattered storms roll in again, according to David Chandley, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist. The high Wednesday is expected to reach 92 degrees.
