Atlanta’s Department of Watershed Management will unveil its $1 billion capital improvement plan for 2016-17 and talk about opportunities for contractors at an “Industry Day” Thursday at 2 City Plaza, 72 Marietta St. NW.
The event begins with registration at 12:30 p.m,. followed by presentations from 1 to 4:30 p.m. by the Mayor’s Office of Contract Compliance, Office of Risk Management and Department of Procurement. Topics will include the capital plan and projects funded by the Municipal Option Sales Tax and planned under the federal consent decree for mandatory sewer improvements.
An hour-long reception — a chance to network with city officials and other contracting companies — starts at 5 p.m.
Improvements are ongoing to the city’s drinking water, stormwater and sewer systems, and Industry Day “allows small, minority and female business owners a glimpse into upcoming projects that Watershed Management will soon have up for bid,” said Watershed Management Commissioner Kishia L. Powell.
