The man was found nearly three weeks ago, severely beaten and unconscious outside a DeKalb County motel.

He’s black, about 5-foot-5 and 200 pounds, and probably around 30 years old. There’s a large mole on his upper left arm, and he has two tattoos: “MVP” on his lower left arm, “BSP” on his lower right.

Grady Memorial Hospital is treating him — but they have no idea who he is.

“He is unable to communicate because of a severe head injury,” hospital spokeswoman Denise Simpson said.

Grady issued a news release Monday asking for the public’s help identifying the ‘John Doe’ patient, who was found Sept. 3 at the Economy Inn at 2565 Wesley Chapel Road near Decatur.

A DeKalb County police spokesman said records showed only an emergency medical call at that location on Sept. 3. He had no information about an alleged attack.

Anyone with information about the unidentified patient should call Grady Memorial Hospital’s social services department at 404-616-5331.
