Police are investigating an apparent home invasion Wednesday evening that left a man dead and a woman wounded on Atlanta's northwest side, Channel 2 Action News reports.
Both victims were shot in the attack in a house on the 2000 block of Donald Lee Hollowell Drive, police said. They were found in the back of the residence.
The man was slain, and the woman was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she underwent surgery and was reported in stable condition late Wednesday night.
“We believe both of the victims lived here, so we believe the perpetrator would have been a third individual,” police Lt. Paul Guerrucci told Channel 2.
Police do not believe the incident was a random attack.
“It would appear based on our preliminary investigation that it was a home invasion-robbery and that the house was targeted based on the activity inside the house,” Guerrucci said, declining to say what kind of activity police found in the dwelling.
