The Atlanta Hawks Foundation dedicated two new basketball courts at Badgett Stadium in College Park on Friday, June 15, according to a press release. Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins attended, along with College Park city leaders and over 300 youth.

Atlanta Hawks Play-By-Play Announcer Bob Rathbun, the event emcee, announced that this is the 14th new or refurbished playing surface dedicated by the Hawks foundation since 2015.

The program featured brief remarks by Hawks’ ownership representatives, elected officials from the City of College Park, and two scholar/athletes from the city’s recreation programs.

Harry-the-Hawk provided an aerial display, dunking basketballs using a mini-trampoline, providing playful engagement with attendees and giving away t-shirts.

College Park’s Ward I Councilman Ambrose Clay offered a look into how the court will be used, adding that a structured approach will best serve the community.

“As promised, access to the court will be controlled. The court will open soon, once the conditions and procedure for access are finalized. Please watch for that news on the City website,” Clay stated.
