One metro Atlanta public servant was spared from the morning's downpour, when a Forsyth County commuter offered his umbrella to a deputy directing traffic.

"You rock," the county sheriff's office posted on Facebook. "Thank you for being one of the reasons that Forsyth County is awesome."

("Although we need both hands to direct traffic, the thoughtfulness of it all made our deputy's day!" the office added in a comment.)

The post has racked up 1,800 "likes" and more than 30 shares since it was published at about 8:30 a.m.

The kind gesture inspired other kindnesses, as one commenter offered to lead a sponsorship to get umbrella hats for the whole office.

"Count me in as well, a small little way to appreciate their efforts in helping us live safe," another commenter replied.
