Athens-Clarke County police are hoping a $1,000 reward will help catch a sniper who used a high-powered BB gun to shoot a jogger and two moving cars last weekend.

According to the Athens Banner-Herald, the shooter is a young white man driving a black Volkswagen Jetta or similar car.

All of the incidents happened Saturday and Sunday. In two incidents, drivers -- one in a pickup truck and the other an SUV -- reported that someone in an oncoming car fired at them, shattering a window. Neither driver was hurt.

In the other incident, a man jogging Sunday afternoon said he felt a pain in his thigh and later found a BB  embedded in his leg, the newspaper said. He was unsure where the shot came from.

Anyone with information is urged to call Athens-Clarke police Detective Charles Ivey at 706-613-3888, extension 337.

Anonymous calls may be placed to Crime Stoppers at 706-613-3342.
